Definitely one of the most recognizable elements of Krakow architecture. An indispensable point on the tourist map of Krakow. Right after the Wawel Cathedral, the most important sacred building in our city. Located on Marian Square, (in the north-eastern corner of the Main Square) was built in the Gothic style in the 14th and 15th centuries.
Particularly noteworthy inside the basilica is the altar, built in 1477-89 by Wit Stwosz, who is the chef d'oeuvre of the artist from Krakow and Nuremberg. Tourists can visit the basilica with a guide where they will see the bell tower and the bugle call. Every hour from the church tower you can hear the bugle call played on the trumpet to the four sides of the world. Detailed information about the Basilica can be found here http://mariacki.com/
